Why Pat Robertson was wrong

Following the recent Ken Ham (Young Earth Creationist) vs. Bill Nye (atheist) debate, Pat Robertson said this:

“There ain’t no way that’s possible,” he continued. “To say that it all came about in 6,000 years is just nonsense and I think it’s time we come off of that stuff and say this isn’t possible.”

“Let’s be real, let’s not make a joke of ourselves.”

“We’ve got to be realistic,” he concluded, and admit “that the dating of Bishop Ussher just doesn’t comport with anything that is found in science and you can’t just totally deny the geological formations that are out there.”

Pat Robertson is not a scientist and therefore should not be making science conclusions. His statements were unfortunately wrong. In fact he is making the same error that Eve made in believing the serpent by him “believing” in the conclusions of modern scientists. Were he to dig deeper he would see how unreliable dating methods are and how many modern scientists jump at whichever dates back their atheist or agnostic positions. In fact, objective science totally backs the young Universe and young Earth positions. It is as Louis Pasteur, often called the father of science, said, “A little bit of science averts us from God. A lot of it takes us back to him.

Because of my background in science and engineering, I too once accepted that evolution and the rest of the modern science theories were correct. I mean, how can the majority of scientists and professors be wrong? But when I delved into the details, I found out that they were. (And I chronicle all of this in my book THE PROOF that God exists and the Bible is True.)

So then how does Pat Robertson’s conclusion parallel Eve and the serpent?

Genesis 3:1, “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

Eve then confirms that, yes, God really did say. But then the serpent went on to confidently give an alternative argument:

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

And Eve believed him. That is why Christendom is “a house divided.” There are many wrong interpretations of the Bible that are being confidently delivered by trusted spiritual leaders.

But the Bible says that we are to “be of one mind”. And Jesus even prayed that our “unity be complete.” These things unfortunately are not the case in Christendom today. And this situation is perpetuated by trusted leaders who disagree. Not that Pat Robertson has always been perfectly Biblical, but this was a very damaging blow.

This is why Christians (and all people for that matter) should put some time into studying what the truth is and why the Bible is infallible, as opposed to just believing (and then parroting) what they pick up in the (dysfunctional) culture or in schools. I make that study easy with my book, where I back this all up with science (put simply), logic, experience, pragmatism and statistics.

Also, to back up the fact that the Universe is 6000 years old (which I do using modern science like no one else has done), here is what an Oxford Hebrew professor said:

The following is an extract from a letter written in 1984 by Professor James Barr, who was at the time Regius Professor of Hebrew at the University of Oxford. Professor Barr said, “So far as I know, there is no professor of Hebrew or Old Testament at any world-class university who does not believe that the writer of Gen. 1-11 intended to convey the idea that creation took place in a series of six days which were the same as the days of 24 hours we now experience. The apologetic arguments which suppose the ‘days’ of creation to be long eras of time, the figures of years not to be chronological, and the flood to be a merely local Mesopotamian flood, are not taken seriously by any such professors, as far as I know.”

And the fact that after the Universe was created in 6 24-hour days, the Earth is only 6,000 years old is confirmed by geology, chemistry and astronomy. I prove in my book that the dating methods used by old Universe and old Earth scientists are very faulty and unreliable. I also show proof of early past dates for dinosaurs, quick formations of canyons (e.g. Mt. St. Helens), etc.

Pat Robertson was “fooled” in that he jumped to a conclusion that relied on putting “faith” into “believing” modern atheist scientists. But the fact is, if a person invests some time into studying this issue, they will see that there are a LOT of credible scientists who affirm a young Earth through factual scientific studies.

The Need for a Proof-based Faith

The Need for a Proof-based Faith

How can we know that there’s a God and that the Bible is a book of Truth? I mean, to think that there is someone looking out for us (who is the creator of the universe) and is involved in our growth and work for Him, and who has prepared a great afterlife for us is an incredible thought.

But based on proofs, it is the only fully intelligent thought.

And because of accepting those proofs and having faith that living by the Bible is the best and truest way to go, the good internal and external results are further proof that it is all true. Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.” That is, the fact that when putting our faith in God and the Bible results in creating a good, secure, confident, peaceful and inspired feeling inside of us is further proof that we’ve made the right decision in our experiment in how to think and live. And are those the results that people are experiencing by approaching life the secular way and believing how the “mainstream” education institutions and media are explaining existence?

And regarding “belief”, we don’t have to be relegated to a lucky gamble or a feeling as to what the truth is, because there is proof. And this proof goes to the nth degree in science, logic, statistics, pragmatism and experience … leaving no stone unturned.

This is why an intelligent person needs proof … because it is proof that justifies faith. Unanswered or avoided skeleton questions in our logic closet will just undermine our faith and prevent us from having a super strong foundation. They also cause people to question specific things in the Bible. That’s why they need to know why the Bible is infallible.

Proof can also be the basis for proving God and the Bible to skeptics and those who have attempted to resolve their death and style of living through the mythical and semi-dysfunctional systems of the mainstream culture and institutions. Or perhaps they are avoiding this issue as they are caught up in the many distractions in life.

The Christmas Trade

I was sitting in my front room earlier and I fell asleep. When I woke up, the channel on my TV was set on the Seasonal Favorites music channel. The song that was playing was “Have a holly, jolly Christmas.” And my feeling was how disgustingly blasphemous this song was to the real meaning of Christmas. I had tolerated this channel because it had a number of sacred carols too.

But then it hit me. Of course people aren’t going to give up the sacred beauty of Christmas unless an enticing alternative is given to them by satan’s world – happy, non-religious songs, presents, sports and santa.

And this enticement starts with children – presents, santa and candy.

And really, Easter was stolen in the same way – by a bunny and candy.

And we could continue on with how other religious holidays (holy days) were traded in for secular fiction, traditions and “goodies” (which really turn out to be physiological “badies”) – Halloween and Valentine’s Day.

What this boils down to is: the culture has increasingly traded in love for sensationalism.

So that all inspired me to write a poem that spelled out some of the worse trades ever.

They traded Christmas for happy songs and presents
They traded Easter for a bunny and candy
They traded sex with love for porn
They traded marriage for “the grass is greener”
They traded eternity for impulse
They traded peace for hyperness
They traded real life for fiction
They traded health for junk food
They traded personal achievement for sports
They traded God for self-sovereignty and intimidation by others
… and the Bible says, <em>“They traded God’s truth for a lie, and they worshipped and served the creation instead of the creator”</em> Romans 1:25.

Too bad that many don’t realize that when we abandon the smoke screens and do it God’s way, He rewards us with peace, love, confidence, security, joy, clarity and a great eternity. Against these things “the world’s” ways can’t compete 🙂

At What Price Unity?

Posted July 16, 2013 by Dennis Marcellino

Have you ever thought about unity? That is, what unites us as human beings? And God’s purpose in creating us was for unity. But it was for unity within the holy, perfect, harmonious, loving ways that He designed us to operate in.

So then, do the unity bonds that you’ve made or joined in with in your life have the highest respect for God and His ways?

First let’s recognize that no one and nothing on Earth is perfect … except God and His Kingdom. Therefore, that should be our first order of unity that supercedes all other unities. And the way we do that is (like Jesus said) “in Spirit and in Truth.”  That is, God’s Spirit is inside of us. Therefore, being in sync with that is a perfect bond source of unity. It also puts us in perfect harmony with our own being. And the Truth is found in the Bible (which I’ve proven to be true at www.ConclusiveProofOfGod.com).

So now the questions are: where do we find unity, and how much compromise with God’s ways do we allow ourselves to sacrifice for the sake of unity in the world?

Here are some places that people find unity:

The Bible

Various Christian denominations

Other religions

Gender

Political parties

Family

Friends

Marriage

Media

The predominant American culture

Subcultures

Spiritual leaders and movements

Sports teams

Schools and Alumni associations

Nationality

Race

TV shows

Music styles and artists

Workplace

Causes

My conclusion in life is: only cling to and promote perfection. And if involved in other human groupings, never sacrifice perfection. Just try to shed it into each group.

In the End, God wins, and so do His true followers

As bad and ugly as this planet can be … with its immorality, evil, dysfunction, sin and wars … God will win in the end and have the beauty (love and holiness) He originally intended and still deserves … with His new, saved, converted free will beings. YAY 🙂 Presently we endure and try to educate and enlighten the dysfunction and sin in this culture. But one day it will end (either at our physical death or the end of the planet).

Then here is the setting for the greatest celebration ever.

Revelations 21, “Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”

There was a visiting preacher yesterday (Dr. John Perkins) who had some good things to say.

(1) He is 83 and therefore gives me hope that I have a number of good years left in me to do my ministry :-) (www.SpreadingGod.com/evangelism.html)

(2) The purpose of life is to know God and “make God known” (which is the focus of my ministry) and worship Him forever.

(3) God doesn’t want us to join cults, He wants us to join Him. (Regarding my teaching people to go DIRECTLY to God).

(4) “We’ve got a crime scene here. And we need intelligent inspectors.”

A conflict between a mainstream myth and a musical/philosophical expression by a cultural icon

A conflict between a mainstream myth and a musical/philosophical expression by a cultural icon

On the TV show “The Voice” a singer was going to sing John Lennon’s “Imagine”. He said that he was a huge fan of John Lennon. His coach, Shakira, said, “Well I’m sure that he’s proudly looking down on you now.” Then the singer started singing “Imagine” with the opening line “Imagine there’s no heaven.” So then where was John Lennon looking down on him from?

It takes more to get into Heaven than the mainstream myth realizes. See my 2 minute YouTube video about that at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXMzJZ-0zOs

Why do young people look up to cultural icons with reverence instead of the only perfect role model – Jesus? Especially since those icons are usually leading dysfunctional, destructive lifestyles. Have you heard of “The 27 Club”? Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse, and many more, all died at the age of 27 … and mainly from overdoses.

I think that the reason why young people look up to them is because they appear to be free in that they can express themselves without intimidation from the world. But they are confusing musical talent with true freedom. And their freedom is often found in a bottle or with drugs.

I too looked up to them when I was young, and to the point of leaving my career in engineering to become a member of some very famous bands (Sly & The Family Stone, The Elvin Bishop Group, Rubicon, and The Tokens – famous for The Lion Sleeps Tonight). But the freedom wasn’t there, like I thought it would be. Hence I ended up trying 20 different approaches to truth and lifestyle before finally finding it 30 years ago in Christianity.

I now try to spread that insight through a presentation which can be seen at http://www.SpreadingGod.com/evangelism.html. (You can be a part of helping to spread that by showing that web page to your pastor or school. For example, how many people realize that science is on the side of God and the Bible and not modern science theories, many of which are science fiction?)

I think that young people go through a period of rejecting the status quo in search of freedom and self-gratification. But in the process of running from, do they ever find a place to run to … or do they get caught up in addiction because they didn’t find the place to run to? (I have a cure for that too: http://www.AddictionFreeForever.com) The paradox here is that the most free that a person can be is in submitting themselves to God’s holy rules, which He then in turn responds by filling our hearts with peace, love and harmony with our being.

The problem now though is that the spirit of rebellion of the ‘60s has become mainstream. And now kids are looked at as “different” if they don’t go along with the immorality of today. Whereas the opposite was the case when I was growing up in the ‘50s if kids were immoral or atheistic.
